About Us

The Plant grew out of a desire to make it easy and affordable to eat delicious healthy local organic food.

Our mission is to promote the wellbeing of people and planet, and provide an avenue to support healthy choices and sustainable practices.

Everything we serve is made with exclusively 100% organic and local ingredients. Our produce is seasonal from around the bay area, often picked only days before being served. Our poultry is free range and organic and seafood wild/sustainable.  Almost everything served is made from scratch in our kitchens to ensure freshness and quality.

The Plant’s menu is diverse, comprised largely of contemporary California cuisine and Asian inspired flavors.  Items range from freshly made juices and smoothies, salads, sandwiches, wholesome grain dishes and pastas, poultry and fresh seafood to 100% organic house-made pastries and desserts.  The broad menu aims to provide organic options for meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans alike.

The Plants are designed and built using some of the greenest materials, in support of lowering emissions and impact on climate change.

Why organic?

Organic foods are often grown with the use of pesticides but what makes them different from conventional farming are the types of pesticides used and farming methods employed.  100% organic produce employs pesticides and fertilizers processed from natural sources while conventional farming utilizes strong chemically synthesized agents, many of which are shown to be damaging to health and the environment.

We believe what one puts in their body affects health and long-term wellbeing of self and environment; while the decisions we make as consumers collectively shape and effect the environment we share.

Organic food…

Tastes Great
Organic and locally farmed produce is usually picked when it’s ripe and at its peak flavor and nutritional value. Rich soil, farmed without the use of artificial pesticides, produces healthy plants that taste fantastic.

It’s Healthy
Fresh organic foods often contain more vitamins, minerals, enzymes and other micronutrients than conventionally farmed produce.

High Standards
Organic certification ensures that food has been grown and handled carefully to avoid the use of unwanted chemicals.

Free from Additives & Preservatives
Eating 100% organic ensures you’re getting food free of chemical preservatives, antibiotics, growth hormones and genetically engineered products.

Good for the Earth
Organic soil practices protect our water resources by avoiding nitrogen-leaching fertilizers and polluting chemicals. Organic agriculture helps prevent these chemicals from getting into the air, earth and water.

Sustainable Agriculture
Sustainable farming provides a secure living for farm families; maintains the natural environment and resources; supports the rural community; and offers respect and fair treatment to all involved, from farm workers to consumers to the animals raised for food.
